The mission of Personnel Services is to facilitate County government operations through proactive management of its human resources; to meet the challenges of the changing workplace environment, adhering to and promoting the principles of equal opportunity and social equity through effective recruitment, training and development of programs in conjunction with innovative reward and motivational programs; and to develop a highly qualified productive and responsive workplace equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to meet and adapt to the present and future needs of Levy County.

Directions for Completing Employment Application:

Levy County Applications for Employment are accepted only for those positions currently posted.  The list of job opportunities is posted in the Human Resources Office, courthouse bulletin board, One Stop Workforce Connection, and the internet.

Please apply for the position by title and department. A separate application must be submitted for each position applied for.

Your application must be received by Human Resources no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day the posting closes, unless otherwise noted.  Please include all information, including resumes and letters of recommendation, that are relevant to the job for which you are applying.  Failure to complete the entire application may be cause for rejecting it.  Any misrepresentation, false or incomplete information or omission of facts requested is cause for rejection of the application or dismissal from county services. Be sure to account for periods of unemployment. Attach additional sheets if necessary.

Employee Benefits Overview
 
            We offer a comprehensive benefits package including:

If you are a new full time employee enrolling in medical, dental, vision and life benefits, your benefits will begin after the waiting period. Insurances are effective the 1st day of the month following 30 days of employment. You will have 2 weeks from date of hire to sign up for your benefit elections. As an employee you can make changes during open annual open enrollment. During this time, you have the change to review your benefits and make changes that meet your personal needs. You may also make changes to your benefits during the year if you experience a qualified life event such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child. The County follows the criteria established by section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code to determine that a qualified event has occurred. You can them come forward to make the changes as long as you do this within 30 days of the qualifying event.
 
Retirement
As a Levy County employee, you are part of The Florida Retirement System (FRS). You have a choice between the Pension Plan or the Investment Plan. Although we pay most of the cost, you pay a 3% pretax contribution.

Pension Plan
 
Pensions promise a defined retirement benefit based on a formula and is ideal for long term employees who plan to spend the majority of their career with an FRS employer.            
 
Employees hired or rehired with FRS employer before July 1, 2011:
·                     Will “vest” after six years employment
·                     Will be eligible for normal pension retirement at age 62 (with at least six years of service) or with 30 years of service, regardless of age
·                      
Employees hired with FRS employer on or after July 1, 2011:
·                     Will “vest” after eight years of employment
·                     Will be eligible for normal pension retirement at age 65 (with at least eight years of service) or with 33 years of service, regardless of age

 

Investment Plan
The investment plan is a defined contribution plan. However, the benefit you receive at retirement is determined by the performance of your investment choices. This plan is typically best for shorter service employees. In order to  qualify or “vest”, you must work for one year with an FRS employer.
